JASMIN & DANIEL’S WEDDING

IN AND AROUND PERTH AND ON THE SWAN RIVER

***

In true Rift fashion, we kicked off our journey together with Jas & Dan’s engagement party. I’m not gonna lie, we love photographing a party. It’s our bread and butter here at Rift and these two loved having our photographer, Nick, capture all the joys of the night.

They loved them so much that they wanted us (especially Nick, of course) to photography the big day too. We were so happy to hear this, as it means the photos from the party must’ve been half decent, but also because we loved being around them.

we decided to hit up Fremantle in the Winter before the wedding to brush up on some posing and to get rid of some of the nerves that come with being a professional model on your wedding day. Little did we know, that we really should have been training how to survive a 42 degree wedding.

The week before the big day, I remember the forecast reading 30 degrees and sunny. A few days after that though, it said it was going to be 35. Jas was starting to getting worried too. So I re-planned the shoot that week to be under the shade of trees at Point Walter (right next to the river, which was thankfully much cooler) and in between the sky scrapers in the city, away from the scorching sun.

All in all, we barely felt the heat and we got to finish by cooling off on the Swan River.

Highlight reel is over, time to have a look through all of the moments of the scorchin’ day

KAT & HAYDEN’S WEDDING

AT WESTCITY CHURCH AND LAKE MONGER

***

These two are very special to me.

I met Kat back when I was studying photography in university and she was studying graphic design. We had a mutual elective unit and we were given the classic group assignment. I walked over to Kat’s group of friends and asked if they needed a photographer in the mix! Thankfully the said yes, so we joined forces and smashed that assignment out of the park.

We’ve been friends ever since and we are always catching up for board game marathons (this is where I got to meet Hayds for the first time and beat them numerous times in Settlers of Catan).

Fast forward a few more board game catch-ups and they drop the news that Hayden dropped the knee and that they would love for me to capture their wedding day.

To say I was overjoyed would be an understatement. Although, being trusted with a friends wedding definitely felt a lot more daunting. The pressure was on - I wouldn’t be able to stand the awkwardness at future game nights if I did a bad job.

I got to work, walking to the streets and alleyways of Wembley and begun planning a Spring bridal party shoot to remember…

Oh and also, the boys hit up a wicked barber before it all kicked off.

Did I do a good enough job to avoid any future awkwardness? Let’s hope so…

Here’s a few more that show off the entire beauty of the day :)
